Spay/Neuter Services
Spay/neuter is one of the greatest gifts that you can give to your pet, your family and your community. These routine medical procedures not only reduce the number of animals in shelters, they also may prevent medical or behavioral issues with your pet and promote longer, healthier, happier lives. And, we have options for just about every need!
Appointments are required, we do not accept walk-ins for any of the following services. Appointments for those who live outside of Williamson County are very limited. Submit an application and we will contact you to schedule your appointment for the appropriate service based on your responses.
WCAC's spay/neuter programs are designed for healthy cats and dogs. If you are uncertain about the overall health of your pet or it has a known health issue, please seek care with a full-service veterinarian.
Having your pet spayed or neutered through our programs is not the same as doing these procedures at a full-service veterinary clinic and there are differences that you need to anticipate. Though our clinic is fully licensed by the state of Tennessee and is staffed by licensed veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians, we do not offer all of the services available through a full-service nor do we have access to the same diagnostic equipment as most full-service clinics.
By signing documents and registering for an appointment, you are giving WCAC's clinic consent to perform surgery on your pet. Our staff will always answer questions, address concerns and ensure that you have a high-quality experience, but you will not meet or speak with a veterinarian prior to or following the procedure. You will receive detailed medical records.
Low-Cost Spay/Neuter
Williamson County residents can have their indoor cat(s) and/or dog(s) spayed or neutered at WCAC for a minimal fee. Appointments are limited and the exact cost will depend on factors such as your income and pet's breed, age, and weight. Cash, check, and card payments are accepted. There is a $4.50 convenience fee for credit/debit card payments of $50 or less and $6.00 for over $50.
Free Spay/Neuter for Outdoor Cats
It doesn't matter if it is your family pet that spends only a few minutes each day outside, a friendly outdoor cat that spends time with multiple caretakers or if it is part of a feral colony that lives its entire life outside trying to avoid humans. If it spends time outdoors in Williamson County, we will spay or neuter it at no cost as long as you agree to a mandatory ear-tip. Ear-tipping is the universal indicator that a cat has already been spayed or neutered.
Trap/Neuter/Return
If the only way that you can safely transport an outdoor cat is to first capture it in a humane trap (example pictured), such as a “Havahart” or “Tomahawk” trap, you can bring it to the center between 8:30 am and 11:30 am, Monday through Friday without an appointment. We WILL NOT accept a cat brought to us in any carrier other than a humane trap without an appointment. Ear-tipping is MANDATORY for all cats brought to us in a trap. You can rent a trap from us for a $50, refundable deposit. And, we may be able to provide assistance with trapping if you are not comfortable doing it yourself.
Check out this video showing How to Use Humane Traps.
Kitten Rescue & Rehome
Is perfect for Williamson County residents who find a litter of kittens and want to rehome them their selves. Through this program, the kittens are spayed or neutered, microchipped, given age-appropriate vaccinations, such as rabies and FVRCP, and treated for fleas and ticks at no cost. Ear-tipping is optional. A kitten must weigh less than four (4) pounds to qualify.
We'll gladly accept these kittens later on if you decide that re-homing is not for you.
Snip & Tip Taxi
Our "Snip & Tip Taxi" is available to those who live in Fairview, Spring Hill or Nolensville and care for outdoor cats. We will schedule a time to meet you at your local Parks & Rec complex, transport your cat(s) to the animal center where they will be spayed or neutered then returned to you the same day. All for free! Appointments and proof of residency are required. Ear-tipping is mandatory.
